Know what you sleep on, and the one thing you cannot answer
The day is loud, and the bedroom is where you prefer quiet. It is the one room in the house you keep for how it feels rather than for how it looks to a visitor: the weight of a blanket, a lamp low enough to read by, fabrics and textures that feel like home. It is the most carefully composed room most people own, and the most private. And then there is the largest object in it, the one everything else in the room is arranged around.
You have slept on it for years. You could describe how it feels, roughly, and how it has changed, and still not say what is inside it. Almost nobody could. A mattress arrives closed, and what is closed stops being a question: it becomes furniture, then it becomes tired, then it becomes something you replace. Ours opens, and everything else we do follows from that.
We are not asking you to be suspicious of your bed. We are saying that the most intimate object in your house is the only one you were never given a way into, and that this is a strange thing to have accepted for something that holds a third of your life.
What a night is for
Sleep is not an absence. It is the hours in which the body goes back over the work of the day and repairs it. It does that best when it is held in one honest position from beginning to end, neither folded nor propped.
A bed can fail at this in two opposite directions.
Too soft, and you sink in like a hammock. The hips drop below the shoulders, the spine curves, and it stays curved all night with nothing underneath to recover against.
Too firm, and you do not sink at all. Your weight rests on the few points that touch the surface, the shoulder and the hip, until the blood is pressed out of them. That is where a morning ache you did not earn comes from.
Neutral is the position between those two, and it is not the same position for everyone. It sits in one place for a light body and another for a heavy one, one place for a side sleeper and another for someone who lies on their back. It sits differently for you than for the person beside you.
So we build in two parts. Underneath is a base block, built in zones: firmer where the weight gathers, yielding where it does not, so the spine is carried level rather than propped. Above it are the comfort layers, and those are the part you actually meet. Soft under the hand, deep in the first minute, holding you up quietly all night.

Chosen by your body
Nobody has ever picked a bed well from a paragraph. Nobody has picked one well from an article either, or from a stack of reviews written by people whose bodies are not yours. So we made the choosing something you do rather than something you read.
Four feels, soft through to extra firm, built from the same materials and the same construction arranged four different ways. Because nothing in them is glued, we could build all four into one gigantic bed in our Singapore showroom, so you go from one to the next by rolling over rather than by getting up and losing the thread.
You lie on each of them until one of them stops feeling like a decision. That one is yours. No salesperson talked you into it, and it was not designed for an average body that nobody actually has. Your own body found it, lying down, in a few minutes.
Every arrangement follows the same rule, in every bed we make: softest at the top, firmest at the base, support gathering as it goes down.

Comfort that stays
Every mattress feels good when it is new. The question is the fourth year, when the spot under your hip has softened from the same weight in the same place night after night, and the rest of the bed is still perfectly fine.
In most mattresses that is the end of it. The layers are glued and stitched shut, so the soft spot cannot be reached, let alone replaced. You are left with a bed you cannot fix, and a problem that was postponed rather than solved.
Nothing in a slaapkop mattress is glued. Every part is held by its own fit and weight, in its own finished cover, so the bed can be opened on an ordinary afternoon by anyone, without a tool and without waiting for a technician to come out. The layer that softened is lifted out and replaced on its own. The base stays. Your arrangement stays. What your body chose is still what you sleep on, long after the day it chose it.
And bodies do change. Ours can be changed with them.
Nothing to hide
What lies against your skin for eight hours a night deserves more scrutiny than anything else you own, and here it gets it. We build with independently certified components, safe to handle and safe to live with. Several times a year we go and stand in the places those components are made, watch the processes, and talk to the people building them, because a specification on paper is not the same thing as a specification you have seen.
None of that is visible from the outside, which is the point. When there is nothing inside an object that needs concealing, the outside of it is free to be quiet: no loud surfaces, no ornament doing a job the construction should be doing, nothing shouting to be noticed across a shop floor. It goes together without tools, it moves without an afternoon of help, and it changes when you want it to. The restraint is not a style we applied afterwards. It is what was left.
We would rather you took your time with all of this. Ask us anything, open anything, compare us with whoever you like and take as long as you need, because someone who understands why they chose their bed sleeps better on it and tells other people why. That is the only kind of customer we have ever wanted.

The years behind it
We have been making sleep materials and components since 2005, for a long time inside other people's beds rather than our own. The first slaapkop® mattress was built in 2019. Our showroom opened in Genk, in Belgium, in 2024, with our own name on it, and 2024 is also the year we began selling in Belgium.
Certified organic, and made to be opened.
The latex
The Mattress, The Topper, The Bolster and the pillows, The 01 through The 07. All of them are GOLS certified organic latex in a taupe bamboo casing, each layer in its own organic cotton inner cover certified to GOTS. That is what the claim rests on: not a country attached to a brand, but a certificate on the material itself, audited by someone with no stake in whether you buy one.
What that material does here is a separate argument, and it is the one this climate cares about. The latex is open-cell and breathable, so air moves through the body of it rather than around it, and the casing lifts off and goes in the washing machine. The bed stays a well-ventilated, naturally hypoallergenic place to sleep through a year of tropical heat and humidity.
The wood
The Frame is the same proposition in another material. Solid rubber wood in natural or walnut, from trees at the end of their latex-producing life, each part cut to seat into the next and held there by the weight of the bed, with no screw and no tool anywhere in it. A headboard slots into the bed you already own rather than replacing it. The Nightstand belongs to the same range. Both are designed in Belgium.

Made with certified components
Every part that goes into a slaapkop bed was tested before it reached us, by people with no stake in whether you buy one. We use only certified components, independently tested to recognised international standards.
Those certificates are held by the people who make the components, and each one covers exactly what was tested. It is a precise claim, and it is the only kind we make.
Where to go from here
There is a room in Singapore with these beds in it, and it exists because a bed is the one object in a house that cannot honestly be judged from a description. But if you would rather explore the individual pieces online first, our full range is right here.
In the room, a layer comes out of the stack and goes into your hands, and a joint seats under your thumb, which is the part a page cannot do. You lie on one arrangement and then on the next, and the bed is opened in front of you rather than described to you.
